TWO days of rest!?

David Klinghoffer comes down on the side of blue laws:

[Pat] Robertson endorses the old American blue laws, forbidding some commerce on Sunday. That idea got a boost this past summer in Virginia where the state legislature reinstituted a nifty law, going back to the 1600s, requiring employers to grant requests from employees for a regular day off on Saturday or Sunday.

Of course, I live in Bergen County, whose blue laws keep shops closed on Sundays. Plus, I'm shomer Shabbat, whcih means I CAN'T FRIGGIN' SHOP ON WEEKENDS. I think this is a case for Nat Lewin.

Actually, I took a class with Nat Lewin in law school, and an early 60's Supreme Court case challenging the blue laws - brought by an observant Jew - was one of the main cases he focused on. (The good guys lost, I believe 5-4)
